Meal plans You can purchase an optional weekly or monthly meal plan for your child. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided daily free of charge. You can purchase a meal option of either breakfast or lunch, or both, for $3 per meal. (One meal, five days a week: $15 weekly/$60 monthly. Two Meals, five days a week: $30 weekly/ $120 monthly.) You can opt for fewer days as well. Please reserve meals ahead of time so that we can place proper supply orders. Meals are appropriately portioned and nutritionally balanced. Child allergies to foods are addressed daily. We seek contracts with super markets to purchase the freshest ingredients and items for the best prices. This guarantees that meals are nutritious and affordable. All meals are prepared (snacks, fresh fruits, etc.) on site except for the pizza that we serve on Wednesdays. Because food preparation, table setting, serving and clean up are part of our curriculum, all preschool students, and where appropriate toddlers, participate and learn about ingredients, proper nutrition, food portions and sanitation in an age-appropriate manner. Meal menus are posted on our website, near the reception desk, and provided in the Safari News. Also your child is welcome to bring his or her own lunches. Please provide a clean lunch box, or sack and thermos, both labeled, for these items. Please pack a freezer cube so that food stays cold. We do not have room in our refrigerator for additional food items. And we cannot heat food in our microwave oven. The state law and time preclude our doing this. On occasion, if you’d like to dine with your child the cost is $4 per adult meal. Just schedule ahead with us and we will prepare it for you. We will never deny a hungry child food so if you do not have a meal plan and you forget your child’s lunch, we will provide food and you will be billed for that food in the next billing cycle. We follow the guidelines for food and beverages as established in the California Title 22 Regulations. Age and size-appropriate portions are followed. As food and beverages are available, seconds will be allowed. We teach students to take only what they can eat or drink. Teaching the value of conservation is a part of our daily curriculum.
